Thmanyah’s Big Kickoff: How a Podcast Dream is Changing the Game for Saudi Sports

It started with conversations.
Back in 2016, Thmanyah wasn’t a broadcaster, a tech company, or a sports giant. It was a voice, a podcast platform where stories were told, ideas were explored, and listeners felt part of something bigger. Over the years, it became known as the place for deep, meaningful Arabic content.

But the team at Thmanyah always had their eyes on a bigger stage. And now, that stage has a stadium.

From Studio Mics to Stadium Lights

In 2024, Thmanyah took a bold leap. It wasn’t about adding another podcast series or newsletter, it was about stepping into one of the Kingdom’s most loved and competitive arenas: sports broadcasting.

Fast forward to this summer, Thmanyah has officially launched its own sports platform and satellite channels, securing exclusive rights to broadcast Saudi football until 2031. Think Roshn Saudi League, King’s Cup, Saudi Super Cup, and Yelo League, all streaming through Thmanyah.

For a brand that built its identity on storytelling, this wasn’t just a business expansion, it was the start of a new chapter.

The Promise: Access for Everyone

On August 13, the Thmanyah Sports app will go live across iOS, Android, Apple TV, Android TV, Samsung, and LG. Then, on August 28, the same day the league kicks off, its satellite channels will start broadcasting across Arabsat and Nilesat.

Some matches will be free, open to anyone with a screen. Others will come with a SAR 58 subscription, offering smoother 50fps streaming, rich match analysis, exclusive documentaries, and instant stats.

It’s a promise: football for every fan, whether you’re watching from a café in Riyadh or a village in Asir.

More Than Just Matches

For Thmanyah, sports coverage isn’t just about broadcasting the game, it’s about telling the stories around it. The pre-match tension. The post-match heartbreak. The player who rose from a local pitch to the national spotlight.

Alongside live matches, Thmanyah will roll out over eight new sports shows, an archive of Saudi football history, and original sports documentaries. And because engagement is everything in the digital age, “Thmanyah Sports” will also be active across social platforms, bringing fans closer to the action in real time.

Global Expertise, Local Passion

To make it all work at world-class standards, Thmanyah partnered with Spain’s La Liga. This means sharper camera angles, richer sound, better lighting, and crews trained in top-tier sports production. It also means stronger measures against piracy, ensuring that the value stays in the game, supporting players, clubs, and the sports ecosystem.

Why This Matters for Saudi Sports

In the past, broadcasting rights were often controlled by foreign platforms. Now, a homegrown Saudi brand is taking the lead, not just to air the games but to elevate how they’re experienced.

This is about more than football. It’s about national pride, building a sustainable sports economy, and telling the Saudi sports story with a Saudi voice.

And in many ways, it’s also about completing the journey Thmanyah started back in 2016: connecting people through stories. Only now, the stage is bigger, the lights are brighter, and the audience is millions strong.
